Stephen E. Schmeling
President and CEO
Steve joined Schmeling Construction Co. shortly after receiving his BS in Business Administration and minor in Construction Engineering from Iowa State University. At Schmeling, his role includes the general oversight of business operations and working with the team to set goals and develop plans to achieve them. He also creates and oversees budgets to ensure resources are used properly to carry out projects as planned.
Outside of work, Steve serves for several not-for-profit organizations in the Rockford area, specifically ones that serve children and adults with special needs.
Little Known Fact: For fun and relaxation, Steve enjoys playing golf and spending time in the peace and quiet of Northern Wisconsin.
J. Earl Wilsey
Vice President
A carpenter by trade, J. Earl has been in the construction industry for over 30 years, coordinating projects big and small. At Schmeling, he serves as the company’s Vice President, overseeing project management and coordinating labor, material and equipment.
J. Earl earned his Associates Degree in Construction Technologies from Rock Valley College, completed the American Society of Healthcare Engineering-Construction Certificate Program, is a Journeyman Carpenter from Local 792 and holds an LEED AP accreditation
Little Known Fact: In his spare time, J. Earl enjoys hiking, riding his motorcycle and vacationing in Hawaii or visiting a National Park. He can also ride a unicycle, affirming life is all about balance!
Peter Schmeling
Estimator and Project Manager
Before joining Schmeling Construction Co., Peter received his BS in Construction Management and Business Administration from Bradley University and gained industry experience with J.H. Findorff & Son in Milwaukee. At Schmeling, he is responsible for estimating new projects, managing projects from start to completion, serves as Safety Director and manages the overall marketing of the company.
Peter serves on the board of directors for the Rockford Area Habitat for Humanity, Rockford Chamber of Commerce, Rockford Ducks Unlimited, Stepping Stones of Rockford, and Next Rockford. He holds industry accreditations, including ASHE HCC, OSHA 30 and WHEA HCC.
Little Known Fact: In his spare time, Peter enjoys trips to Northern Wisconsin to spend summer days on the lake and snowmobile in the winter. Proud father of our new addition which arrived 9/16/2022 Emersyn Lynn Schmeling.
Marsha Pryor
Controller – Project Administrator
Marsha has been in construction for over 17 years and with Schmeling; Construction Co. since 2018. At Schmeling, she is responsible for cash management, financial reporting, and all tasks related to each project. She is recognized as our team’s go-to person for any administrative task!
Little Known Fact: Marsha enjoys the great outdoors, including gardening, camping with friends and family.
